MICHAEL SHEYAHSHE – CO-EDITOR IN CHIEF
Hi there! I’m Michael Sheyahshe, a member of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma. I’ve been published in various magazines and journals including: Illusions, Trauma Magazine, Native Peoples Magazine, Games for Windows: The Official Magazine, New Plains Review, and First American Art Magazine. I have a book out called, Native Americans in Comic Books: A Critical Study, available from McFarland publications. I received two separate Bachelor degrees, both cum laude, from the University of Oklahoma: one in Native American Studies and another in Film. I earned my Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in 3D Modeling from the Academy of Art University, San Francisco, CA.
A few industry achievements include: Director of Animation for a feature film, credits on a shipped videogame for Nintendo Wii, developed an Android App published on Google Play, and my art in the Red Cloud Museum’s permanent collection. My comic book character, Dark Owl, is featured in a collaboration with the Indigenous Narratives Collective (“INC”) in INC’s Universe #0. I illustrated a story written by Mary Skaggs in Literati Presents “What The Stars Must Think Of Us”, and I wrote a story, Strike & Bolt, illustrated by George Freeman (Captain Canuck) for AH Comics‘ Kickstarter-funded, MOONSHOT: The Indigenous Comic Collection.
Hello fellow geeks! My name is Michael Adams and I have been a comic, anime, video game and general geek-related-things-lover since I was very young. I have worked in the comics industry as a comic book colorist and even had some of my work featured on HBO’s Entourage. I have been a graphic designer for about 16 years now so I have a lot of experience on that side of the fence. I’ve found though, over the years, that I like talking about geek stuff more than producing it! I also really enjoy helping others find success through promotion. That is why the primary focus of GeektheNews is to cover independent artists, game makers and others in an effort to help spread the word.
If you ever want to see any of my work you can check out my deviantart page. I don’t do very much art anymore and it is really only a hobby for me now.
